Got my MCN today and was reading the Desmo V 1098R to find a big thanks to Scott for giving the chief road tester a long shot on his DD16RR..........now how about an SDC club night at Knockhill Scott!!?

Anyway............ it's not going to happen because Scott's selling it now as the 1098R lapped Almeria faster than the Desmo!!!!:lol2: :D

Didn't want to post about this earlier as I wasn't sure if MCN wanted this kept quiet until it appeared in the paper... what an event that was - AWESOME. I haven't read the article yet but did say at the time that I predicted the 1098R would be quicker round the track.

Watching Michael Neeves put the 1098R and the D16RR through their paces was entertaining to say the least... 33 degrees of Spanish Sunshine, aaaahhhh that was the week.

Not wanting to steal anyones thunder, but if you go back to last weeks story MCN reported that the tricked ZX10R was faster than the D16RR around Almeria too. But to be honest, you don't want to go fast on the D16RR anyway, people then miss it, this thing of absolute BEAUTY should be ridden slowly to allow it to be SEEN :D:D The fact that everytime you tip into a corner you see cash registers also plays on the mind a bit :D

Had a quick look at the comic last night although I've not read it in full yet. Looked at the lap times though and you're right - the 1098R absolutely annihilated the Desmo. :lol2: :p

I bet Ducati are gutted the R isn't a prototype machine or they could have run it in MotoGP.

If Martin from Ducati Glasgow is on here, can you please post up some high res pics of your 1098R, as featured in this weeks MCN, as I am interested in the paint scheme you have going on there? Looks like a sort of candy red you used. Also are they aftermarket ABS fairings or fibreglass or did you just repaint the stock ones?

Yes, it's true!!

The desmo is for sale, I am totally devastated by the outcome and it is beyond comprehension that some tarts handbag was able to toss the desmo to one side like that.

Quite fancy a new R1 with the big bang motor, straight swap available!

@@@@ this ducati @@@@, I'm outta here :lol2:

As I said earlier having been at Almeria with both my D16RR and 1098R the outcomes did NOT surprise me, I was quicker on the 1098 than I was on the Desmo... but like I said earlier too, it needs to be quantified that the 1098R was in full race bodywork, bungs etc and the D16RR was there in its carbon fibre glory !!!!! The Desmo is MUCH harder to ride, I felt I was fighting with it all the time, the way I summarised was...

"The D16RR is an aggressive b@stard, it wants to flick me off at turn one and continue on it's own.... the 1098R wants to take me round fast and get me home safely"

Scott's just gutted that the D16RR is P1SH... Bring it up to Knockers and my wee ZX6 will tan its @rse.... maybe not on the straight right enough :D:D:D

Just before all the sniggering starts... Scott help me out here.

The Desmsosedici is the best bike ever built in the history of the universe EVER... by far, it's a one bike show every time you stop somewhere and is AWESOME...ABSOLUTELY AWESEOME, STUNNING AND WORTH EVERY PENNY OF IT'S £40,000 PRICE TAG.

It's just that wimps like me can't ride the thing anywhere near it's potential.

Imagine Stoner went to Yamaha, who'd ride the untamed beast... Casey must have a HUGE bargaining chip when it comes to contract renewal... and good luck to the lad. I often wonder how Rossi would manage on a Desmosedici...

It must be his best reason for staying with the M1

I'll need to remember how to resize them for the forum!

Every time I do they are tiny!

I've got some belting pics that Ian Jubb from MCN took!

Martin why not just upload them to Photobucket in all their glory and post a link to them in your next post. That way you dont need to resize them. I need some side on, top, front and rear high res shots (preferably static ones). Who did the paint job BTW?
