I did it as a bit of a detour on my way to the northern run just to make it interesting but i now think ive found my new fav road :D heh
Cracking sceanary
All fresh new tarmac and you could goto saying that its like riding around Europe rather than the highlands!
I would say to anyone thinking of taking this road to just go out and do it, As it has meany long straights & lots of fun twistey parts!!

He's right you know !
I rode it last week on my superannuated BeeEmm. I even kind of enjoyed the bit where I had a front wheel slide being overambitious in a left hander. "Had a front wheel slide" sounds much more dignified than "nearly fell off" I find.

there are bits I enjoy now that the bit through the trees is sorted ( f'ck i used to hate that) however I'd prefer to do Ft Bill west to Corran ferry then onto the A861 and join the 830 near to Mallaig :)
Go easy on it, a mate from work saw his riding partner die on that road a few weeks ago. Remember the roads are full of tourists just now.

I watched as a bike crashed after overtaking me in the wet at about 80 on that road, the guy was lucky to survive.
Its a good road but I dont like the bit just outside of Mallaig where its just too narrow and poorly surfaced(though being redone I think), after that bit its OK.
BTW, my brother in law is(was) the mate on the Mallaig ferry,he's currently doing his masters ticket.

And another sobering thought (as if I need one)
Bloke killed literally 1 minute from my house the other day.

Have to agree. I was almost forced off the road yesterday by a German 'gentleman' driver who pulled out from a side road and started coming towards me on my side of the road. Don't know who got the biggest fright.

Absolutely Wulfie !
When I rode it last month it was the first time I'd been along there since the late 80's when chunks were still single track. Walk in the park now.
Roads aren't dangerous.
People with the wrong attitude are dangerous.

Word of warning to all, mobile speed cameras now on that road. Comes from complaints from local home owners, worst area from Corpach to Glenfinnan and again from new stretch at Arisaig to Mallaig. Theyre not there often but they do stick their heads up now and again.
