Oban Weekender

Instead of going to Stafford we decided to head north for our last weekend trip of the year. Despite rain early on we had a good run up, from Penrith we took the A6, onto M6 then used the B7606 from Kirkpatrick Fleming to Abington, then the B7808 and finally used the M74 and M8 into Glasgow where we blagged coffee and biccies from Martin :D. The weather had cleared up and we rode north alongside Loch Lomond on the A82, turned onto the A83 at Tarbet and headed for Inveraray. From there turned right onto the A819 heading to Loch Awe then left onto the A85 for Connel and Oban and on to our overnight stop at the Wide Mouthed Frog (http://www.widemouthedfrog.co.uk/) at Dunstaffnage Marina just outside Oban.

Sunday morning we made an early start and headed south west to Oban and then took the Agyll Coastal Drive (A816) down to Lochgilphead, this is a nice twisty road which follows the coast, climbing into the hills then dropping you back down to the shore with stunning scenery. At Lochgilphead we turned left back onto the A83 and into Inveraray where we retraced our route from Saturday. Total distance from Penrith was 460 miles.
