I am planning a 3/4 day run into Scotland on the bike in Aug with a mate, and am looking some advice as to where to head , i was thinking of up past Glasgow to the west coast and will be doing around 300 miles a day

I will be getting the ferry over from N Ireland to Stanrear then staying near Glassgow for the night , then starting fresh the next morn

Another thing i need advice on is , do the cameras all along the road to Glassgow for Stranrear pick up bikes or are the forward facing only ?

Any advice is welcome

Thanks :)

Hello dere,From Glasgow(1 s)take the A82 to Fort William, then the A87 and A890 to Applecross got to be one of the best runs to do in Scotland.Take the Bealach na ba(pass of the cattle) which rises to 2053 feet in five miles, the view into Applecross is stunning.

Don't bother trying to make time on the A77, as well as the cameras the unmarked are all over it.Where are you planning to stop near Glasgow?

^ like he says ^

Applegate cross from a wee boat on Loch Carron, it runs up between the two left hand hills

Loch Garry

From a bit further round from Applecross village, Raasay and Skye IIRC

...you could always stay in the best biker friendly B&B in Scotland - and we're only a short distance from Applecross, Skye, west coast.....:)

I'm doing similar in July and am planning a stay at this place:-
http://www.kintaillodgehotel.co.uk/
It's on recommendation from a mate who went last year.
Hoping the nights are clear so can appreciate the quietness of it all.
No rutting allowed.

If you have the time Ullapool to Lochinver jaunt is worth a shot.A835 north then onto the A837 running along Loch Assynt the road runs along a fantastic coastline and just before Loch Osgaig it's little more than a track but what a feckin track(supermotos rule!)
