Signed T/shirts, being sold on behalf of James Ellison, the seller is a mate of James' dad. This will help James to actually get to the tests pre-season, he pays his own way and is not yet on 'BIG' money !.............
I have just got my T/shirt and drinks bottle, collected from the seller, who as it turns out only lives 5 mins from me !
THESE ARE GENUINE SIGNED T/SHIRTS and the seller has close links with JE's family.
In a former life I was a T/Shirt printer and garment decoration specialist and can tell you that they are top notch quality Fruit of the Loom 'Heavy' t's.
Grab yourselves a bargain and lock your shirt away in the safe, in years to come when you put it back on ebay you can make yourself a fortune, or, do what I'm gonna do and wear it !!!

Can I point out that I am in no way connected to the seller and paid in full for my shirt, I am posting up as this is a worthy 'cause and great product !
You can also wish James well here http://www.forums.ellison77.net/

So I hear, flights to the tests belong to him, not sure about accom etc, I know the cash from these Tees are going towards the efforts for 2006 though, hence why I got involved posting up !

Cannae do it mate - can't fund a ride on a company's bike that makes 500,000 bikes a year.
Wish him all the best though, but if he'd pursued the D'Antin ride (and got it)I'd have had my hand in my pocket in a flash.

I know what your saying, I gave him a bollocking for not taking the D'antin ride, told him he could have been our patron saint of DuN if he had, he was on the way to to the library to check his e-mail !
New stuff 2006 on its way, will see what its like, various versions I think, like this one, no manufacturer logo, well bike anyway !

I'll be having one, the guy done good so far. He'll be paying me back when he's on the big money anyway (?). Dream.
I was screaming for him at Donington last year. The box I was in (hospitality, not cardboard) barely knew him, and only had "corporate" eyes for the big guns. Eventually he acknowledged us with a wave as he exited Goddards for the line up. Then he crashed.
Yamaha - does it really matter? He's a Brit in with a shout and we don't have too many of them do we?

Yamaha - does it really matter? ?
I'm affraid it does to me mate.
I'd rather see a Ducati on the top step any day of the week (regardless of who rides it), than a jap bike piloted by a Brit.
I wish him all the best, I really do - but I'll support the Ducati teams first.

Why  , Its only a bike.. wheres your patrism Brits come first every time :)
I couldnt care less if a Brit was on a C90 as long as he did well, Feck all this Ducati rules malarki :finger:
Scottch
06.02.2006, 03:54 PM
You're right, Brits do come first every time - but only when they're on Duc's, and not before.
I don't support any of the Japanese machine riders - we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
Only a bike?? Fook off, we'd all be riding GSXR1ZXCBR's if it was :fou:
Ducati rules? Feckin right it does :finger:

Listen, it is only a bike to me, if i like the 07 R1 more than the 999 then ill have one.
If im honest ill say the Duke is the crappest bike iv owned, but its different and thats what i like about it.
Try taking the blinkers off and read this...
2 new set of clutch plates
2 rear subframes
1 new set of clocks
2 new coils
1 ground out sump plug (leading to £3k of damage)
2 batteries
£600 service bills
2 AA recouveries due to other problems
1 set of ohlins fork seal (leading to brand new forks)
thank fook these were all warranty items:eek:
Now go on tell me again why Ducaties so special, and remind me the last time a "jap" bike needed to go back to the dealers
Scottch
06.02.2006, 04:47 PM
And what's any of that got to do with James Ellison? :OT:
You're comparing your warranty claims against my reasons for supporting Ducati in MotoGP over a ricey pilot.
Your experiences certainly haven't mirrorred mine - my last rice boiler was exactly that, boiled it's head after it dumped it's coolant.
My previous Jap offroad machine needed a new clutch, was recalled 3 times, didn't start unless it felt like it, needed the frame painted, leaked petrol and also dumped its coolant.
My 999 has been the best built Ducati I've ever owned.
But mate, opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one ;)
But since you ask, one of the reasons Ducati's are so special to me at least, is that against massive competition and almost limitless resources of the Japanese big 4 manufacturers, the tiny Italian factory (that only builds around 1 tenth of the total bikes of the smallest of the big 4) has come to the party and has bloodied all their noses on more than one occasion.
Through the dedication and commitment of the Ducati team they have already accomplished far more than 2 of these massive Japanese factories.
I wish for them success above all others, and at the expense of all the other riders. Including, James Ellison or any other Brit.
Blinkers? Yep, too right I'm wearing them. I love Ducati I do. It's more than a bike to me.
But then, that's my opinion. And it's clearly different to yours ;)

Back on topic........
From ellison77.com
Hiya gang! I'm posting updates on here instead of the Diary page for now because the Diary section has to go via my web designers and as you know it could take some time to get them up as they are working really hard on the new look site.
Anyway, today has gone a bit better for me, I haven't really improved on my fastest lap (its now1:59. but there are alot easier to do and more consistant. I am changing the bike alot more now to suit my style and also starting to use the rear brake more to control wheelying on the exit of corners and also to help keep the line mid corner. This is completely unnatural for me as I am used to using a thumb brake on the left handelbar for the rear so I am finding it difficult to be as comfortable on the bike, it involves alot more moving around when you have a rear brake foot pedal.
Like I have said in the past these bikes are alot different from what I am used to and it will take some time for everything to feel second nature to me, we have plenty of testing before the start of the season and I will have it all under control by then.
The team are making it alot easier for me to understand how the bike is working by showing me data from the other guys, It helps me understand how I should be riding the bike, It the minute I am still very fast in the middle of the fast and slow corners but this is effecting my exit speed and I lose out too much in between the corners. Its getting better and it is only very small differences on each corner which just adds up over the two minute lap. We have also been working on aerodynamics today as yesterday I was consistantly 5kph slower than Carlos at the end of the start/finish straight (this added up to about 0.5secs which I then made back in the middle of the next corner), we took some photographs on the bike to check the possition because me and Carlos are excactly the same weight and we couldn't figure out why he was faster. After checking them you could see his arms were more tucked in so his shoulders were behind the screen, whereas mine were sticking out, so we moved the footrest hangers back and up just 10mm each way so I could pull my arms in infront of my knees and now we are excactly the same speed at the end of the straight.
Dunlop are also doing a mega job and they have done alot of research over the winter to come up with some quality rubber, its helping having Carlos here because of his experience and we can also test twice as many tyres than before.
Tomorrow I will be consentrating on setting the bike up for the exit of the turns rather than mid corner because at the minute we are running wide on all the exits and its making it very difficult for me keep control of the front end. I also need to follow a few of the other guys to see where Im losing out, it should help slow me down mid corner then I can get good acceleration onto the straights. My brain seems to know what to do but its struggling to pass the information on to my body so maybe by following someone it will get the jist.
Check in with you guys (and gals) tomorrow. Ciao, JameZ

Quatar day 3.
From Ellison77.com
Just to let you all know, we improved again today by nearly 1second and I am happy with the way we are progressing with the tyre situation. We have tested so many tyres and on average we do about 70laps per day so I'm learning all the time. Yesterday I could do 1':59's at a push and today I can do them for fun, everytime I went out I did a string of 59's and my best lap was a 1:58.9, this was our goal for today on race tyres so all in all we haven't done a bad job. I know we are still a little off the pace but the gap is getting closer every test and I am really understanding now how the bike works. It would hav been nice to try a Qualifyer today as Carlos did because he managed a 1:56.9 but Haga had a big crash and the day was cut short by 20mins (Haga fans dont worry, he's fine!)
We have also found alot of things that will improve my riding for Malaysia next week so I'm just going to go over everything with my Crew chief leading up to the test to make sure I carry across everything I have learned this weekend.
I have figured the rear brake thing out now and it makes a massive difference in lap times, mainly because you can keep the throttle open full and stand on the rear brake to keep the bike from wheelying, whereas before I was rolling off and losing alot of speed, also trailing the rear brake into the corner to keep the bike on line is a big help.
Gotta catch a flight now, keep the support comming, JameZ..........

Scottch is right and he's wrong. Everyone has an opinion, that's democracy, and we all like Ducs, but patriotism surely counts for a lot too. I don't think there's any need to get into a slanging match here.
These are just the sort of debates forums are very good for, but are also the cause of their downfall. I for one would not want to see this one degenerate to the level of bitchiness and name calling evident on the mountain bike sites
I visit.
As Scottch says, lets agree to disagree. I didn't intend my last post to have any edge to it, I was merely expressing my thoughts.
