Just driving along and minding my own business when I came across these guys, I had the camera in the boot of the car so at the first chance I stopped and grabbed it, I was waved passed the horse and dogs and stopped as soon as I could and waited for them to catch up - really made my day as I have never ever come across any of the local hunts. I passed a funeral cortege parked up at the last village and they wear all in tweeds so I am guessing it was something to do with that ?

Dead right Ian. I was talking to the guy behind the horse last night in't pub - he looks after the dogs and it was some village bigwig that had something to do with the hunt:)

Apparently it went well, coffin placed in grave accompanied by my mate blowing his horn then one of the hounds p****d down the grave;)

Bet you wouldn't have been so pleased if you'd been hooning round on the bike. I'm sorry but that sort of thing shouldn't be allowed on the open road - nor horses but let's not get started on that one again.

Still, @@@@ing in the grave has a twisted sort of logic, not to say irony, about it. I might have done the same if I had the chance.

Its the lesser spotted village green that i'm scared of, hope one never jumps out on me ;)

Although I do have to say Pete as you are a cyclist, as I am at times, I have lost count of the times that I have comes across three abreast on a country road, time trialers thinking they are the only thing on the road etc. Granted pushbikes don't shat on the road but on the road this was taken you would be stupid to ride faster than allowed. :)

i always thought the anti hunting thing was due to perceived class differences rather than a genuine concern for foxy woxy. most of the people who kicked up a fuss were middle class uni dropouts and winkers alltogether.

saying that i pretty much hate both sides of this argument

It's always stupid to ride faster than you are allowed? No-one mentioned speed here - speed isn't the issue - it's the condition of the road and the "unlicensed" traffic on it. Dogs should be on a lead and horses should be in a field. Or a glue pot. We don't go onto their fields, they shouldn't be on the road. Who mentioned hunting? I didn't. Agreed though, roadies are an egocentric, arrogant bunch who should be shot or run over at the first opportunity. Right, I'm off......

I can't believe you are advocating banning certain user groups from the road Pete, we've just had a long, hard fight to retain cyclists rights to use roads when there was an option of a "cycle route" and despite my reservations on the place of horses on the road I do believe they share similar rights to us "unlicensed" pedallers. Its a very slippery slope once you start to ban :( Similarly as a mountain biker what happens if they then want to ban you from "their" fields and fells? maybe what needs addressing is the standard of riding and driving so "minority" road users can actually use the roads safely.

Hmm, wonder if we could ban lorries and HGV's from the roads :)

As regards chasing wild animals around quite why any sane, civilized person would wish to inflict so much cruelty on an animal is beyond my comprehension :(
