I was 'trackside' today at the stage 5 finish of the Tour of Britain, what an amazing atmosphere, I was there at about 11 this morning and the race finish was due at 2.13, yep. that precise !

Action packed day and well worth booking a day off next year, most of the local schools were involved with a 'tag' race up the finish straight, taking in all sorts of obstacles, having to stop, start, limbo etc - Fantastic.

Postman Pat was on hand as the finish was within yards of the house of the real Postman on which Pat was based on. Highlight had to be the 2 year olds race on trikes - Kendal was offically 'Full' all day, it was good to see.

Sorry to bore you all with pics, some very keen cyclists on here though !

I will not list 'who won what' but there is some podium shots !

Who put that bloody hill at the end of a 100 mile race....

Lots more to sort, don't really want to post the kids, in fact not sure of the legality - it was just so much fun seeing the determination to win on their little faces though, best hang on to those pics, could be some future heroes - heres hoping.

Big up to the Tours organisers, if you get a chance next year, go, if you are on its route between Dumfries and the Finish in Glasgow tomorrow, just go, you will have a ball !

great pic's Ian.

I only wish that british TV would give the tour as much exposure, Then we might get some real first team players compeating.

I agree Ian.

It's a shame for the sport that drugs have been heavily involved for such a long time.

That still dose not take away the fact that for the clean riders in the peleton, it is an amazing feat just to keep in toutch with the cheats let alone beat them.

It is a fantastic sport and with time now it will be clean.

Vive la velo!!!!

I told them their guest rider fee wasn't attractive enough for me to bother this year. I gather they are already discussing next year.........;)

I think this is perhaps my favourite picture of the day and shows the spirit of both the rider and spectators !

Ok, here we go -

Discussing team tactics, use the second left barrier as your braking marker, off the gas, hard turn to the right, clip the apex and go for the finish !

Steve, most of the images there will have had a 'model release' signed by the parents, allowing the images to be used on various media channels, odd as it is, buildings sometimes have to have a release, also I have not been allowed to sell, offically, any of my Red Arrows shots due to the fact that the RAF holds the intellectual rights of the public display. Once you start getting in to it it is a very tangled web and one that could quite easily catch the unwitting out, leading to some severe penalties.

IIRCI think you will find that if you take photos in a public area they are not bound by the laws of ownership and release forms in the way they are if you were taking photos to sell

I am no expert on the subject, just alert to the dangers, to me its harmless, I have some belting shots of the trike race and the olders kids doing the obstacle races - I am just going to sort them with a watermark and pass them on to the schools involved, hey, I may even make some cash :)

presume you had pre-aproval from the shools/all the partets i think they are 'funny' about pictures of kids as you seem all to aweare of , seem to remember some news storie about video careras at sports days or something, its blatently penalising the masses becasue of the minority like so many things

Yep, fine on that front - I had full Media Accreditation, which again brings its own problems as I am not 100% sure what I am actually allowed to do with the images I have, for all I know I could be in contravention by displaying them here !
