Noticed in local paper the Strathpeffer race on this week ("Strathpuffer") and see it was oversubscribed although 500 entrants.
10 years it has been running now and route is "testing" apparently!
Anyone here entered?

quite a few of my mates will be racing and others doing support for the lights the racers use, it seems a tad crazy to me, a 24 hour race in the middle of winter about as far north as one can get :)

They featured this in the Adventure Show with Dougie Vipond on BBC last year and I have a funny feeling the BBC are maybe here again.
Write up seems madness. The winner last year spent almost the full 24 hours in the saddle, riding up and down muddy/icy/snow covered tracks in the forest with sleet etc blowing in his face.
This has resulted in even more entries this year!!

Way too far north for us......we do the Mountain Mayhem 24 hour at Eastnor Park every year, we've entered 6 teams in each of the last two years and we may get 8 this time around. It's an awesome event for the "club" rider, you get to chase around with some of the "pros" too! In 2007 my team posted 13/19 in Men's Elite race - not bad when you consider we were a "vet" team, riding singlespeed and every team above was some form of sponsored/pro team! We came 6/29 in singlespeed category too.
not for me thanks.
having done a couple of mtb 'marathons' in the past I know that my interests lie elsewhere :D
