Is back at a reasonably sensible time for once..........
Ski Sunday
New series. Graham Bell and Ed Leigh introduce highlights of the weekend's World Cup action, including the men's meeting in Kitzbuhel, Austria, where the likes of Benjamin Raich, Bode Miller and Didier Cuche will all be vying for victories. Plus, in what will be a regular slot during the series, a celebrity tackles a giant slalom course under the tutelage of Bell - this week it is the turn of chef Heston Blumenthal
Today on BBC 2 from 19:00 to 20:00

what a @@@@ing stupid idea! sick of all these "celebrity" @@@@s getting "featured again". It just cheapens the whole @@@@ing programme and wastes airtime for the proper event we want to watch. Imagine if they put celebs on a superbike to go round the circuit before every race. @@@@ing joke, it really is. they should stick to what they are supposedly good at. @@@@ @@@@s.

We are going at the beginning of November this year untill just before Christmas. It's cold then but very sunny and only the local powderhounds for company.
We have not decided if we'll go back after Christmas or on to Val. My guess is Val but can't be certain now.

Don't hold back Pete:mad: Say it how it is.
But I deffo agree. If it's not cooking, it's dancing, skating, get me out of here...somewhere or other etc etc. Cheap crappy entertainment for the family with no brains.

Im not into any of the celeb unrealty stuff but i dont mind it on Ski Sunday, its only 10mins of a 1 hr show and you coul learn from whats been done. If it were any skier who happened to be passing instead of a celeb the viewing would prolly be cringe worthy, never been on camera before etc. Top gears star in a @@@@ty car is equally as tolerable, in my brainless humble opinion ;)
BTW the programme that follows is well worth a watch, Tropic of Capricorn....

Ski sunday is great. Have been skiing for 5 or 6 years now so not very good at my age, but I can whizz down a blue at a few miles an hour and s**t myself down a red! Still not mastered carving yet. My point is all the celeb stuff designed for the average "Royal Family" around the country for saturday night viewing.
You're right about picking up tips though. Have picked up a few which I'll be trying next time out.
By the way....forgot Big Brother.

I agree with Steve, the celeb is a way of showing us mere mortals a way of improving using different ideas that we can try on the slopes. Using a 'race' theme and celebs just make it a bit more interesting. Looks like it's the last one next week:( TPT should be a good skier as she has been skiing with royalty since she was a youngster til she fell out of favour with HRH.

Graham Bell and Ed Leigh try their hands at the adrenaline sport of speed riding, in which they parachute from a bridge, cliff or a plane with skis strapped to their feet. Tara Palmer-Tomkinson is the latest celebrity to take on Graham's demanding slalom course, while there is also action from the women's World Cup downhill in the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana. Last in series

The Alps
A visual treat and a chance to see the Alps as they have seldom been seen before by joining Graham Bell on his summer trek across Europe's greatest mountain range. Traversing the mountains across four countries, Graham sees the familiar Alpine landscape transformed in the summer months. The world's most famous ski runs are replaced by glorious flora and fauna, including the elusive Ibex mountain goat and there is an exhilarating visit to Europe's highest mountain refuge.

High Altitude is the program with the stuff that is not covered on Ski Sunday that they tried in the last season of Ski Sunday and was not to the taste of the purists of the original programme if you see what I mean. A lot of the competition is well covered on Eurosport.

Ed Leigh and Graham Bell present an all-action winter sports show. The series starts in New Zealand, where they attempt a 'Tyrolean Traverse' - a 100m crossing between two mountain peaks on a single piece of rope. Supermodel and avid skier Jodie Kidd then goes on the trip of a lifetime, heli-skiing with Ed and Graham. While the untouched powder is exhilarating, Kidd discovers first-hand the serious avalanche dangers of off-piste skiing.
