Not quite what yous lot were thinking:rolleyes: I've been buying a bit of vinyl recently and wanted to be able to listen to it while on the computer. I had been intending to buy 4,500+ records last Sunday but when I put the bid in 5 secs from the end it didn't register:eek: I was gutted to see they went for less than £1300:eek:http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/9025/img1136ne1.th.jpg (http://img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img1136ne1.jpg)

What's the general consensus for transferring vinyl to digital?
I've seen a couple of sub-£100 turntables but what's fully needed to transfer? i.e. if I get a turntable do I then need an amp or other type intermediate box?
What's quality like on transfer? Snap, Crackle and pop or hiss?

I'm not transfering to digital but you need a special turntable and it comes with the software to enable it to transfer at a higher speed (I think) you just plug it into a usb and follow the instructions

This (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98232&C=Newsletter&U=08P02-1_S2&T=12066991) might be a cheap way of transfering record to digital.

you will need to host it, i use imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us/), you dont need to register to use it, I did and can view my uploaded ictures whenever, useful to resize to 800x600 b4 uploading. you will the be given several url's, use the one that says 'direct' copy url into pop up box and voila!
plenty other sites too, photobucket etc.

Blackie, my ancient Marantz spinner is on it's last legs. Are the 2 TTs in your garage any good? If so are you willing to flog one of them. I need a 45RPM facility though.
