Default New year - new logo

As I mentioned late last year, I will be upgrading DuN to use the latest version of the forum software, and since re-styling the forum is an unavoidable part of that process, there will be a few changes to the look and feel. Right now that upgrade is pencilled in for the end of February (more on that in coming weeks).

As part of these changes I am planning to change the forum logo / banner and would appreciate your input on which new banner you prefer below:

Why do you say that (other than to try and wind people up, of course)?

I think you've missed the point Duncan, or is it simply a wind up as has alredy been suggested.

I thought we had all moved on.

Why would we have that arrow in the logo at all??

I know there are a couple scooter boys on here, but do we want a b&stardised 'The Who' logo ?????

Shouldn't we follow the guidance in the Ducati Brand Identity Corporate Guidelines (see sponsor logos at top)?

I quite like the arrow. I'm obviously too young to know who the The Who are or were!

Difficult to have a poll and vote for something that's not there. Would it be possible Miles to maybe see what an "arrow free" design looks like to keep the ageing hippies happy and re-run the poll again?

Well tayside roads dept should get rid of Derek & Pict in the next few hours as the roads are covered in Black ice around Dundee & Angus.

the original DUN logo was based on the Ducati D roundel logo with a compass arrow pointing north added, it did use logo elements from Ducati's trademark which technically it shouldn't of, oops the arrow was quite small and subtle, neither me or John who designed it are fans of the "make the logo bigger" fashion hence many probably didn't even notice it was there

in the old context i felt it worked, on events like RTL we even had sign direction stickers made and the arrow got moved around to point the turn direction, not that anyone slowed down to follow them

you need to decide whether the arrow is needed, the logo word is strong by itself and in many ways a combination of the Ducati-upnorth words and SDC logo might be all that is needed now.

no. 4 - without arrow - is my favourite.

i think it would be nice to give people a link to the scottish club with a visual logo as well. basicly the actual emblem is, among the other clubs, something different. i mean a logo which covers the ducati logo as well as the scottish thing.
e.g. to combine the red/silver ducati sign with the scottish (blue/white) and italian flag.

or take the ducati sign change blue for red, letters in white and italian colors for the wing.

Have you thought about seeking psychiatric help Lindsay? You have what appears to be a bad case of "whoitis"... Seeing references to The Who everywhere is a serious condition, take this simple DuN logo for example, a normal unaffected person just sees simple Ducati imagery:

I'm feeling a lot of love for the arrow... Ok, since only me and Chiz appear to like it, maybe I need to drop that, the pointing North metaphor was tooo much.

The decision has been taken to keep SDC and DuN as separate as possible from a visual, management and funding point of view. There will of course be the existing SDC forums on the new site, but no SDC logo on the banner (just in the SDC forums). DuN exists for a bigger audience than just the SDC and the forum will (continue to) reflect that.
