Had to be Steve no way even in its present state would it have been empty in the middle of August.
So hoped that somebody would have bought it out and done it up as I loved its location

It does seem a bit suspect, although some of it was in a poor state of repair so I guess there could have been something like an electrical malfunction that started it. Sad either way.

Hopefully someone will build a new guesthouse or hotel, but it would probably be out of our price range!

Check it out on Trip Advisor. Not good.

Also the layout and extent of the damage might suggest more than one seat of fire?
Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

Probably doesn't smell as bad now.....

Wonder if the lost revenue form the Masher may have influenced the "Electrical Fault" that might have started the fire......

Local paper says the Spittal had recently changed hands and had been empty for several weeks and about 30% was destroyed. It has been established since 961 and has burnt down 15 times in the last 1000 years.

I must plead guilty to being the one who suggested Oban at the expense of Glenshee but I'm sad to see this happen. As Robbie pointed out, had we stuck to dates and venue we would have been there.

Hopefully a new place will be built but, as Miles says, it would probably be outwith our price range.
