Default ST4s ECU problem and options

Having found, test ridden and purchased a tidy 2005 model ST4s locally for my wife Jeanne, we loaded up for a weekend away only to find the bike started then ran on one cylinder. After an hour swapping coils etc, to no avail we gave up, shoved it in the shed and went two up on my bike.
I have since got a copy of JPDiag, checked various other things on the bike and purchased a new S4 ECU.
Where nothing else made any difference, the S4 ECU means the bike starts first stab of the button – pretty conclusive that the ST4s ECU is duff then.
I now need to work out where to go from here, which is where I need some input from you good people.
The ST4s ECU is a 5AM, the S4 ECU is a 59M, so although the bike now runs, it won’t have the right fuelling map and it doesn’t drive the functions on the dash (no fuel gauge, neutral light and we now have a sidestand cut-out).
So, I can lift the map off the ST4s ecu, but I already know from research that the map files are different sizes and sitting on different hardware, I can’t imagine I can load the map onto the new S4 ecu – unless someone can tell me differently?

So, do I now get the 5AM ST4s unit repaired or can I get a 59M ST4s map for the new ECU and load that?
For a complete picture, the bike already has some Termis and after reading around, it now also has a more open airbox, so ideally I need a map to suit, having no idea what map is on the ST4s ecu.
Your thoughts and guidance gratefully received.
    Cheers
    Bon

You can get the S4 ECU re-mapped with an ST4s map but although it will sort the fuelling it won't sort the other issues. The 2005 ST4s utilises the CANBUS features of the IAW5AM ECU to supply the neutral and fuel status to the dash. The IAW59M doesn't support CANBUS, so you would need to get another IAW5AM mapped for the ST4s, or get the old one fixed.
I'm not sure what your sidestand issue is. It should cut the engine if a gear is selected and the stand is down.

Old enough to know better, young enough not to care

Bonnie, if you bought the 05 bike from Langholm (i nearly did) you will find that it is an '04 bike that wasn't sold until '05 The key givaway being the dry clutch.

If yours is not the yellow one I'll shut up (again)

    Tim,

that's the one. It does indeed have the dry clutch, but it does have the restyle and 5AM ECU....

Before the ECU failed it was going beautifully, so a bit gutting really. Hey ho.

Now that might be interesting - thanks very much. If it's a 5AM, I may be in the market.
    cheers

    Default Hopefully sorted...

Hi folks, I sent the ECU down to Avanti Raceparts for repair - they reckon it's unfixable due to the H/W rev, but have sold me a replacement 5AM with appropriate map for the repair pice.

Fingers crossed, but hopefully that's us sorted!

    cheers
