    Default Servicing etc

Other than the obvious Ducati Glasgow, does anyone here use anywhere else in Central Scotland for servicing, MOTs, tyre fitting etc?

ERS Racing at knockhill are superb. Dont know about an mot but everything else can be done there. Get your suspension set up at the same time.

I can't speak highly enough about Tyler at North Motorcycle in Leith.

ERS are good, but for my money Tyler is better still.
In Theory, Practice and Theory are the same. In Practice they are different.

Purely for MOTs where you aren’t dealing with jobsworths.........A1 in Alloa (cars and bikes, plus all the guys in the family run business are bike people) are simply unbeatable. Other than weekends, you don’t even need an appointment. For me, it’s a 20-25 minute journey, (with other places nearer), but they are quality.

    Is that this place?
    A1 Auto Services
    Unit 2, The Trade Centre,
    Bruce Street,
    Alloa,
    FK10 1RX

if so, I would go completely against your advice and say to folks avoid like the plague and indeed don't touch any vehicle that has its MOT from here.
    They are dodgy as hell.

I had to do a FOI to find them but to cut a long story short, two years ago I bought a car from a guy who's mate worked at that garage and the car got its MOT that day I bought it. Only 2 days later I took it to a specialist garage for an inspection and it was so dangerous they wouldnt let me drive it away. 25 faults, 10 of which should have failed the MOT.
Stupid me I know, should have got the vehicle checked before buying, but when they guy shows you the MOT certificate and its a clean pass then during the sale handover that MOT certificate disappears from the documents pack...then he stops responding to your calls and texts......hhmmmm
£3,000 worth of work later and it was allowed back on the road.

Oh wow. A million miles away from every bike experience I have had with A1. It sounds very much as if what you were dealing with went through the edge of the business, and had precious little to do with A1 legitimately. Even two years ago, an MOT can’t disappear. It’s an online document, so you should have been able to do something there.
The guy who owns the business (ex RN) and his sons have always been straight as a die with me, and if this had been brought to their attention, 8 cannot imagine that he would have done nothing.

The paper mot shows the garage details but the online one doesn't. It only shows car details. The paper one is the one that vanished. Trust me I checked online at the time and the mot was there but no garage details.

So the FOI request then took over 4 months to come back with the garage details by which point the fight had burned itself out of me.

I suppose it's too late now to bring it up again with them.

It was definitely done through their business and the deceit ended up costing me 3 grand on top of what I paid for the car.

Hi Robbie. I suspect that the seller got his mate to put this through on the fly, and the family knew nothing about it. The Dad is a seriously sound guy, and did a huge African Trek for a kids charity with his sons a few years back. Obviously, when the family head off on bike runs, there might well be someone with access to the MOT system who has abused it “for a mate”.
If you don’t object, I would love to bring it to the Dad’s attention. If he has got a waster screwing with his business reputation, he will be gone pronto, believe me.

That would be much appreciated if you don't mind.
I have all the documentation as proof of work needing done etc
    Thanks

Mot I use Canal Bank MOT Station Unit 6 Seabegs Road, Bonnybridge FK4 2AQ

Tyres - Strathearn tyres in Crieff. Ride in ride out service and good prices. Been using them for years and never had any problems.

Well I messaged them over two weeks ago and explained the situation.
Haven't had an acknowledgement, reply, apology. Nothing. Not even "we will look into this and get back to you"

That says it all to me.
So I stand by my original statement.

    They don't care.
