    Default 916 fuel pump questions

hi guys, today i've stripped my fuel pump out to fit a new filter and submersible hoses, on the base plate there are 2 take offs that join outside the tank and connect to the cap inside it, these are quite corroded so i've set about cleaning them up my first question is,

where the pick is inserted in the first picture is this hole supposed to be open all the way through to the other side seen in the second picture, it's currently obstructed but i can't see if it's from corrosion or something that should be in there to block the hole?

secondly as you can see in the first picture there is nothing connected to the take off on the fuel pressure regulator is this normal?

    thanks
    chris

Both of the take offs in the base plate should have a hole right through and should be connected to hoses inside the connecting then to the filler cap. One is for the filler drain, allowing rain water and excess fuel to drain away and the other is for the fuel tank breather. Also make sure that the filler cap drain is clear and that the breather is clear below the rubber grommet (4) in the attached picture. There should be nothing connected to the pressure regulator spigot.

Thanks Derek, I'll carefully run a drill bit through them all.

The rubber bit on the top of the tank is no more it fell off due to corrosion I'll just treat the area and routinely check it's clear
