Default Chain slack on Monster s4

Hi I have a 2002 Ducati monster s4 with the 916 engine im a bit confused with the chain slack diagram on the side of the swing arm and in the owners manual. My confusion is that on the diagram it show the chain flexing inbetween the 26mm (so the chain my stay between the 26mm) but this seem quite a tight chain tension! or is this a error in the diagram and is the measurement from center line of the pin upwards as you would measure say like a Honda. Hope you guys and girls can help. ive attached a photo off the diagram on the swing arm. Thanks

The distance between the highest point of the chain to the lowest point should be 25mm to 27mm. The wheel should be rotated to the tightest point first.

So say if I set a vernier didgital caliper to 25mm and lock it the chain should only flex between this.

Digital caliper! Just eyeball it. An inch to an inch and a quarter will be about right.
