Angry Yesterday was not a good day

I was up at 6.00 am yesterday to get the Supersport down to Ducati Glasgow by opening time for it's 12 month service.
All the way down the road I had terrible indigestion and as I was riding through Glasgow on the M8 I had an overwhelming urge to be sick. Now there was nowhere I could pull over and stop and the need was urgent - thank goodness for flip up helmets. Apologies to any following motorists.

Then, after an interminable wait at DG the service manger finally announced that my bike was finished "but I've got some bad news". It seems that when finishing the service they had spotted an oil weep from one of the cylinder head studs and didn't want the bike going back out until it had been repaired under warranty. So they gave me a Scrambler Icon to get back home and the Supersport is with them. My worry is, for how long. And this is the best time of year too

I had a call from DG today, they want to pick up their loan bike. I don't mind that as I have a Scrambler Classic already and with the uprated suspension and seat it's a far better bike.

They also told me that they have found the problem with my bike, bits are on order and they hope to have it done next week. So not so bad as I was fearing.
The problem is apparently due to an o-ring. I had a look at the parts list and sure enough there is an o-ring on each cylinder stud, below the washer under the cylinder head nuts. It looks like Ducati have fitted these to reduce the possibility of oil leakage up the studs. Except it didn't work on mine

Hmmm? Your lucky you have "other" bikes to use Derek but say like a lot off others on here myself included you didn't?? DG taking the loan bike back is fairly crap!! We'd be left stuck with nothing. Christ even unreliable crap Landrover leave you with something until your own is repaired especially if it's a warranty issue !!! Sorry DG but I'm alittle sad to hear this to say the least.

What would DG do if you refused to agree to return the loan bike until your own was repaired ? I assume they are going to deliver your super sport once it ‘s repaired.

if you have an issue under warranty you should retain the replacement vehicle until yours is returned unless you are happy to do so but I know what my answer would have been

To be fair, the service manager first asked if I had another bike to use. I replied "Yes, but how am I going to get home?" To which he said that they would lend me the Icon but would collect it later. This at least sorted my immediate predicament as getting home for me without a pre-booked place on a bus would have meant getting a bus into Glasgow, a train to Dundee, then another bus to Forfar. Depending on times and connections this could have taken 3 to 4 hours.
If I didn't have another bike to use I most certainly would have demanded and expected a loan bike. After investing around 12K in a new bike and paying for road tax and insurance that I'm not getting the use of that's the least I would expect. Any car dealer would give you a courtesy car in the circumstances and there is no justification for a bike dealer not doing so.
