would i be correct in thinking all dry clutches are the same ?

The standard dry clutch for the 748/9** and 900SS/900 Monsters are the same. The only things that can sometimes differ are the slave cylinder push rods.
The plates, pressure plates, baskets are all interchangeable. (as far as I am aware)

Apparently plates for a Suzuki GS650 fit and are cheaper. Haven’t tried it yet myself but there are several threads on various forums.
clutch basket is not to bad friction plates are toast might try the suzi ones
