Default Desmo Challenge di Scozia 2019

By popular demand I have again been asked to present another Challenge to members for 2019.

Once again we offer a selection of checkpoints to encourage you to enjoy the wonderful scenery and roads in Scotland, and visit places and discover objects that you probably would never notice. The object is to ride your bike to as many of the checkpoints listed in the itinerary as possible. It is not a race. The aim is to enjoy the planning, take your time, visit the places and take all season to do it.

Registration for the Desmo Challenge and payment of a £10 entry fee* will be required to participate in this event. The fee is to help cover the cost of awards on completion of the event.

    The awards structure will be:

    GOLD AWARD
Visiting and photographing your bike at all 30 checkpoints.

    SILVER AWARD
Visiting and photographing your bike at 25 checkpoints.

    BRONZE AWARD
Visiting and photographing your bike at 20 checkpoints

Participants must be members of the Scottish Ducati Club.

    Only Ducati motorcycles are eligible.

Checkpoints will (mostly) all be in Scotland.

An itinerary of the checkpoints will be sent out to you on receipt of the application form and entry fee.

You can start as soon as you like. Claims and photo evidence should be returned to the event organiser by the end of November for an awards presentation at the AGM in February. These can be provided electronically, via photo sharing website, on a CD or as hard copies.

    To register send an email to Derek Blackie [email protected] with your details;

    Name……..
    Bike Model….
    Registration Number….

If you will be using more than one bike please provide the details for any additional bike(s)

    * Once again the committee have agreed to sponsor the event, offering a 50% reduction on the entry fee.

Derek, how many people are signed up to the Desmo Challenge di Scozia 2019 this year? And hopefully we can get some more members interested in taking part. Thanks.

Hi Jane, I only have 9 entrants so far this year and unlikely to get any more now. I don't know which ones have paid the entry fee and which haven't. (I haven't yet )

to anyone who hasnt signed up for this but was thinking about it- its not too late.

I would highly recommend. I had so much fun doing it last year and managed to split it up over 3 weekends.

Unfortunately I cannot do it this year due to family and other personal commitments but wishing I could. Maybe another year.

Like a few of you I did the checkpoints in Skye and on the way there while at the Midgie Masher this weekend. One of the checkpoints, the Loch Loyne Balanced Stones is no longer there. Well the stones are, but they are no longer in balanced piles. Some hooligan, probably the council, has knocked them down.

Here are a couple of pictures from 2 years ago :

and one from Friday past :

Since there is no longer any obvious clues as to the location I have decided to delete this one from the list. So now only 29 checkpoints required for a Gold award, 24 for a Silver and 19 for a Bronze.
