    All I could find. It's for a 500 but it's likely that they are similar: http://ducatimeccanica.com/500_sl_pa...nual/index.htm

    Default Wiring diagram

    Yes I saw that one, the wiring from the ignition pick ups and the alternator have been severed.. nothing seems to match that diagram. Just want to be sure the reconnections are correct.
    Thanks

    Only one cylinder is shown since the other is identical.

    Have you checked the condition of the pickup wires inside the alternator casing? The insulation on my 500 had gone hard and brittle and disintegrated at the slightest touch. I had to replace the wires from the pickups all the way back to the loom connector.

    As you can see from my post above the pickup end was far worse.

    Default Wiring

    Also disconnected are a connector with red/blue and a brown/white , a connector with a thick brown and a thin brown. 2 yellows from the regulator and 2 from the alternator..I want to make sure the bike runs ok before the big strip down. I'm going to study the wiring diagram this afternoon. See what's what.. any suggestions v welcome.

    Are these possibly the wires that would normally connect to the regulator. I only have the diagram for the 500SL which may be slightly different.
    There are;
    2 yellow wires from the alternator - You can leave these disconnected for now. Obviously the battery won't charge but if you start the engine don't rev it too high as the stator will be generating power with nowhere for it to go. This can cause the windings to break down internally.

    2 Brown wires. The thick one is for the regulator sensor voltage and will be live when the ignition is on. The thin one is a feed from the same regulator terminal to the charge warning device.

    The 500 diagram doesn't show a red/blue nor a brown/white. It does have a permanently live red wire from the regulator output to the fusebox and on to the battery.

    The brown wires on the bike should be switched ignition. Tape up the exposed connectors and check that you are getting 12V at the brown wires to the coils and ignition modules. if the pickup wires are intact and wired correctly you should sparks when the engine turns over.

    Default Wiring

    Thanks for the info.
    Looks like the voltage reg is missing, hence the reason its taped up. The rectifier looks new so I'm assuming the reg is built in. The other 2 wires are for the TL fuel gauge ..so I am now sorted .. I think. Just need some new belts and I can start it..
    Thanks all.

    They only produced a manual for the 500 as far as I know.
