    Default 400 junior air box

    Hi
My 400 junior has Longer Inlet manifolds fitted by the previous owner But still has the standard carbs ( bolted side by side not staggered on short manifolds as was standard) the bike starts and runs nicely with this set up but I need an air box for it as the standard one does not fit due to the parallel carb set up & they are too close to the frame to fit the air box. Does anyone know if a 750 ss or possibly an early monster air box would maybe fit ? Thanks

I was thinking that if the current manifolds are the same length as those fitted to the 750ss and 900ss then an airbox from one of them should fit as the carb dimensions will be the same and the frame is the same. BUT I'm not familiar with that cross bar on the SS frame and realised the your bike has the same frame as the 750 sport and the pre'92 Supersport. So I can't see any Monster air box fitting nor one from a '92 on SS.

Thanks for your input Derek , due to the oddball combination of parts fitted I’m thinking of trawling through our local scrapyard for some random inlet pipe that I can fit to the carbs the put cone filters on as there just isn’t room with that frame bar in the way

The 750 Sport doesn't have that cross member either, although the battery is in the same location and it uses a twin choke Weber carb, so a different air box entirely.

Once again thanks for the information, it looks it will have to be a fabricated box or cone filters , I will be looking for a bigger engine option later on so I won’t be spending to much time sorting it

Not sure of the specific model but my carbs also came with these off-set air filters from K&N...

(they also make some with an angled inlet)
