Routes and Roads - Scotland North and North East
Up coming events and rideouts click here
This region covers the area to the east of the A9 from Inverness to Perth. Biking delights include the Angus glens, the roads fanning out from Braemar in the heart of the Grampians, the Moray Firth coast and Strathspey and lots more. Southerners may find the local language impenetrable, and the sheep numerous (a hazard to most of us) but will find plenty of friendly bikers happy to show off their superb biking region.
Popular Meet Places
The Spittal of Glenshee Hotel on the A93 is a popular stop off point on one of the best roads in Scotland, leave Cupar Angus and prepare for the twisties.
Roads
A93 Perth-Braemar - Ups, downs and
twisties all the way, with a big climb over the summit at Glenshee and a long
sweeping descent into Braemar with the Cairngorms in the background. Why stop
in Braemar, as the road continues all the way along Deeside to Aberdeen ?

A939 Ballater-Grantown-on-Spey - Known as the Lecht road
it takes you up over some high, wild open country from Deeside to Speyside at
Grantown. Best avoid the distillery visits if you’re on the Duc though
!.
A939 Grantown – Nairn - A fast road running
mainly through open moorland and making a long descent down to the Moray Firth
coast at Nairn. ![]()
B974 Banchory-Fettercairn - This
is an old route known as the Cairn O’Mounth and it climbs up and over the
shoulder of the Grampians from Deeside at Banchory to the Mearns at Fettercairn.
On a clear day the views from the summit are stunning and it’s worth a
stop. ![]()
