Routes and Roads - Scotland Highlands and Isles

Up coming events and rideouts click here

This region covers the area north and west of the road from Loch Lomond to Fort William and Inverness. It also extends down the Kintyre peninsula to Campbelltown. This is where you can find some of the best biking scenery in Europe, with quiet roads and stunning landscapes of mountains, lochs and coastline. There’s the descent into Glencoe after the open expanse of Rannoch Moor, crossing the hairpins of the Bealach na Ba to Applecross, rounding the bays of the turquoise North Sea near Durness or rolling down to Campbelltown with the islands of the Inner Hebrides just across the water. It’s hard not to think of this as biking heaven !.

Whether you like to do the long tour around the coastline or find a base for doing day trips you’ll find plenty here. Just don’t get too thoughtful about the weather. Sure, there’s been the odd “Highland monsoon” but a good day biking in the Higlands will outshine any other biking experience on the roads!.

Popular Meet Places

This region is full of wonderul biking roads, perfect for touring on your Ducati. There are no regular meeting places we know although Applecross is a popular destination with stunning roads and scenery. Fuel can be hard to find and take care on a Sunday when many garages in remote areas can close.

studioThe Studio at Achnasheen - Good coffee and food.
Inveraray Pier - There’s always some bikers to be found at this scenic spot. Plenty of parking and places to eat and drink.
Green Wellie Stop, Tyndrum - A well-frequented spot for bikers on the Oban or Ft William runs. Also for Central Region Constabulary, so be on your best behaviour !
